You can insure the borrowed equipment with us. You can order insurance when creating an online order on our website.

UNIQA CZ ALLRISK INSURANCE

The minimum insurance premium (including liability insurance) is 550 CZK per order or one time block. If the order includes multiple time blocks, each block is considered a separate order for insurance purposes. Students are entitled to a 40% discount, so the minimum insurance premium for them is 330 CZK per order or one time block. The listed insurance premium is for informational purposes only. The insurer determines the exact insurance terms (deductible, scope of cover, etc.) and premium individually, based on more detailed information about the filming location and how the shoot will take place.

Insurance companies calculate premiums based on calendar days. This means that if a customer orders equipment with pickup the evening before and returns it the next morning, the insurance covers the entire previous day and the entire following day, which may affect the insurance price. (For example, a rental from Friday, January 17 at 18:00 to Sunday, January 19 at 10:00 is charged as one day for the rental, but from the insurance perspective, it is charged as three calendar days—Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.)

The deductible is 5,000 CZK.

  • Group A countries (Czech Republic, Austria, Slovakia, Poland, Germany)
  • Group B countries (European Union – the specific country or countries where filming will take place must be specified)
  • Group C countries (the rest of the world excluding high-risk countries – the specific country or countries where filming will take place must be specified. Liability insurance does not cover damages occurring in the United States, Canada, or Australia.)

Deductible during equipment transport: If transported goods are stolen between 22:00 and 06:00, a deductible of 20%, minimum 10,000 CZK per insured event is applied. This clause does not apply if the damage occurred in a locked brick garage, hall, or area with permanent security, or another enclosed property.

Note: Insurance does not cover drones. To insure drones, a special aerial work insurance policy and concurrent permission from the Civil Aviation Authority (ÚCL) are required. Therefore, Biofilms cannot offer such insurance.

General Information about Insurance

  1. Insurance does not cover cases where equipment is handled negligently.
  2. Insurance does not cover damage to equipment and other items caused by improper handling, even in cases of ignorance of correct procedures. Proper procedures must always be followed when working with equipment. The rental company assumes that the customer is a professional who knows how to handle the equipment and is familiar with all necessary procedures.
  3. Equipment must always be secured under lock or under the supervision of an authorized person when not in use.
  4. Insurance does not cover the use of equipment in dangerous situations, such as attaching equipment to drones or other extreme situations like war zones, simulated explosions, and other scenarios, unless previously agreed upon with the insurance company.
  5. In most cases, equipment is not insured against theft of items and equipment stored in a vehicle. Always ensure that the vehicle with equipment is supervised, or do not leave equipment unattended in the car.
  6. If using a guarded parking lot, always check whether the parking lot is truly responsible for extraordinary damages caused by the theft of photographic and film equipment from the vehicle, which often has a value in the hundreds of thousands to millions of CZK (in EUR: tens of thousands to hundreds of thousands, in USD: tens of thousands to hundreds of thousands). In most cases in the Czech Republic, this is not the case, and parking lots only cover standard damages within a few thousand CZK.
  7. In the case of drone rentals, insurance does not cover any damage to the drone or damage caused by its use. Flying drones always requires special operator insurance and appropriate permissions.
  8. Insurance is valid only within the territory of the Czech Republic, and if you need insurance abroad, inform us of the country for which you need insurance.

Insurance applies only to the person and company that rented the equipment and is listed in the order. In case of incorrect or erroneous information, we are not responsible for any potential denial of coverage by the insurance company.

Note: The complete wording of the insurance policy can be requested at the Bio Films branch; however, it is a very complex document with several appendices, so we recommend following these main rules.

In summary, always treat the equipment with the utmost respect and care to avoid unnecessary damage.

Scope of ALLRISK Insurance

ALLRISK film equipment insurance can be applied against all dangers during regular filming. All crew members are insured.

Specifically, ALLRISK Insurance Covers:

  • Equipment transport
  • Equipment storage in a vehicle or building (conditions see below)
  • Theft and burglary, for example, during filming (conditions see below)
  • Liability for damage (conditions see below)

Insurance also covers the insured's obligation to compensate for damage to items that the insured has taken over or has for processing, repair, modification, sale, or for another similar reason for the purpose of the ordered activity.

However, insurance in the basic scope does not cover damages resulting from the disappearance of items.

Equipment attached to a drone must be insured separately—that is, this fact must be reported.

Territorial Validity of ALLRISK Insurance

Unless otherwise stated in the order, insurance automatically applies within the territory of the Czech Republic. If you need to insure rented equipment outside the Czech Republic, you must notify us when ordering insurance.

ALLRISK Liability Insurance

Equipment insurance includes liability insurance with a limit of CZK 10 million. With this option, the premium is included in the final price (no surcharge is payable).

This insurance covers damage you cause to others through your activities or the operation of your property.

All crew members are insured.

However, the insurance does not cover damage caused by any wear and tear, excessive mechanical loading, or gross negligence by the insured or anyone engaged by the insured in their activities. The insurance does not cover damage arising from missing items.

What are my loss-prevention obligations under ALLRISK insurance?

What are my loss-prevention obligations?
The insured must take measures to protect property appropriate to its value. This means that a basic camera kit may be transported in a passenger car and, if no other option is available, may remain in a locked vehicle provided it is not visible (in the luggage compartment). The vehicle must be in a lit location under camera surveillance (a petrol station or public car park).

Insurance protection requires the vehicle to be equipped with an immobilizer or alarm.

The insurance also covers damage occurring while handling equipment; remember, however, that staff must be properly trained.

Given the value of the equipment, larger camera kits and camera vehicles should be parked as follows:

  • At the premises and address of the insured's company, or an entity authorized by the insured, before the start or end of transport, in a locked brick garage, hall, premises with permanent security, or another enclosed property.
  • During transport, at petrol stations, public car parks, customs premises, bus or railway stations and airports, which must be continuously lit by daylight or artificial light, normally used for these purposes, and frequented by vehicles and people. This provision applies only to short interruptions of transport, for a maximum of two hours.
  • During transport, longer parking requires the presence of the driver or a security service, or an enclosed property or premises with permanent security.

When storing property in rented premises
We recommend replacing lock cylinders to ensure that unauthorized persons cannot enter the storage area using spare keys. Always consider where the storage premises are located, whether they were selected with due care and whether they are suitable for storing property of the insured value.

Protection against theft (overcoming an obstacle)
Theft from a designated filming area is also considered burglary if the insured items are under continuous supervision by a responsible person and, outside filming hours, are stored in properly locked premises (doors, windows and other access points locked), with at least one security lock. If the above conditions are met, the requirement for overcoming an obstacle and the thief's entry route is considered satisfied. Payment by the insurer is conditional on the loss being investigated by the Police of the Czech Republic.

Definitions and additional information

1. An insured event is any unforeseeable occurrence in which the insured property is damaged or destroyed. An unforeseeable occurrence is one that the policyholder, the insured or their representative could not have foreseen. An occurrence that the policyholder, the insured or their representative could, in view of their technical knowledge and experience, have caused intentionally or through gross negligence is not considered unforeseeable. In the event of gross negligence, the insurer may reduce the insurance payment proportionately.

2. In addition to the exclusions above, all indirect losses are excluded, even if they result from damage for which an insurance payment is to be made, such as failure to meet delivery terms or cancellation of an order.

3. Regardless of any contributing causes, the insurance does not cover:

3.1 Damage resulting from war, invasion, acts of a foreign enemy, a state of war, war or military operations (whether war has been declared or not), civil war, insurrection, mutiny, rebellion, riot, strike, lockout, civil unrest, resistance, military or usurped power, martial law, a state of emergency, malicious acts by a group of persons, acts by persons acting for or in connection with a political organization, conspiracy, requisition for military purposes, destruction or damage ordered by a government acting de jure or de facto or another public authority;

3.3 Damage caused by nuclear energy or radioactivity of any kind;

3.4 Damage or other harm caused directly or indirectly by asbestos, asbestos-containing materials or formaldehyde;

3.5 Damage resulting from intent or conscious negligence by the insured, their representative, a person entrusted by the insured with the care of the insured property or security at the insured location, or a person close to the insured; where the insured is a legal entity, its representatives include members of its statutory bodies, holders of procuration and managing directors;

3.6 Liability, harm, damage or any expenses directly or indirectly caused by, resulting from or arising in connection with any act of terrorism, regardless of whether another cause contributed to the event or any part of the harm, damage or expense. For the purposes of this exclusion, an act of terrorism means an act by any person or group of persons using force or violence and/or threatening to use it (whether acting alone or in connection with any organization or government), pursuing political, religious or ethnic goals or motives, including an intention to influence any government or place the public or any part of it in fear;
